My favorite relaxation on a Sunday afternoon is to grab a book and relax for a while. I don't get the opportunity to do it as often as I would like, but when I do, I savor the time.
Family lunch, family games (i.e. Monopoly, Mao, Mah Jong, Risk, etc..., reading is nothing but a dream as long as there are little kids running around, but I try and just hanging out back with the kids and hubby. :-)
It would be workout at the gym, and then some work if I have a deadline to keep. After that I try to relax with my little family, surf a bit on Internet and go for a evening walk. :-)
Hi Lisa, I think my favorite thing to do on a Sunday afternoon is; after church I will go out with my wife and son, to the mall maybe and just forgetting about everything and being with them.
Then Sunday is the only day I will take a nap, I enjoy that too.
We have a hammock in our front yard, under two tall trees. I like to swing in the hammock with the kids and watch the wind lightly blowing the tops of the willow trees in the distance.
My favorite thing to do on a Sunday is something I rarely get to do BUT I'm doing it today! My husband and I are going to this breathtaking botanical garden near LA called the Huntington Garden. It features over a dozen thematic gardens and includes more than 15,000 different species of plants! AND... we're going to have tea and scones (how very British of us!) in the tea room that overlooks the Rose Garden. I can't tell you all how excited I am! Going to this serene place is such a treat for us and it's so nice to get out of the crazy city life - even for a few hours. Plus, we've both been super busy as of late and haven't taken time out to really do anything for ourselves so this should be wonderful. Here's to Sundays! :)
Oh man I'm jealous! We used to live about 15 mins from the Huntington and were members. We love that place - it is one of the most incredible gardens we've ever visited. You've probably seen them, but often their are commercials that are filmed there, generally for products that want to illustrated serenity (one that I remember was for a pharmaceutical product...can't remember which one, but the scene was beautiful).
Sometimes I cook for several hours. Today is my daughter's best friends birthday and she's visiting us. I made a meal of her choice ... lentil loaf, brown rice, steamed kale, carrots, Caesar salad with homemade dressing and croutons, and the healthiest carrot cake ever! The cake is a surprise. I have to hide the croutons or they get eaten before dinner. I enjoy cooking for young people that appreciate healthy vegetarian meals. Now I'm going to put my legs up and read for awhile. Maybe later go for a dip in my pool.
