Joining the gym has rejuvenated my exercise program. Now, I'm power walking at least 40 minutes a day, plus doing a 20-30 minute workout at the gym, focusing on different body areas. So far, I love this combo.

I'm thinking about joining one of the step classes once or twice a week, just to keep it interesting. I've never done any exercise classes before.

Oh wow, exercise classes are the best if the instructor is motivating and energetic and friendly of course. You should join not only cardio but any weight training or pilates you can attend would be awesome.

My routine:

Monday: Either TBC (boot camp) or weights/spin
Tuesday: Weights--strength training
Wed: Spinning (my favorite)
Thu: cardio/strength
Friday: boot camp/Spin
Saturday--sometimes Spin

Walk run throughout the week with the kids or chasing my 5 yo on her bike, that's a workout!!
There are some great advantages to working out in a class setting. I tend to stay motivated to work out longer when in a class.(looks bad if you quit in the middle of a class) I have also found that it is a great way to make some friends and learn some great tips on how to kick up your workout routine. I do a step class once a week. The first class almost killed me. I was good for 20 minutes at top workout and then had to cut back to finish the class. I have worked my way up to a good 45 minutes before I hit the invisible wall. My goal is to finish the class and still have energy left. I also do a yoga class 2 times a week. This is a great stretching class and working my muscles class. When time permits, I will do 30 minutes of light weights and then go to yoga for stretching. Good muscle tone is starting to show. Other workouts include cardio 2 times a week.
I used to hate going to the gym with a buddy because I felt it cramped up "my" work out. When I started back in the gym this year after a bad knee sprain, I was the lone wolf once again. But I got involved in Spinning. On the days I didn't spin I would do some form of cardio to warm up then wander aimlessly from machine to machine and do some kind of strength training. Then one day, I went to my spinning instructor who I had seen work out with other people in class (in a group type thing) and I said "ok, this is what I'm doing. Is it right? Is it wrong? What can I do to make it a better work out?" So he tells me that a group them work out during the week doing strength training on days we didn't do spinning. So I joined them. Many days it's super hard work for me but I wouldn't have it any other way. Here is what we do.

Monday - Spinning
Tuesday - 20 minutes of cardio then 45 minutes of upper body strength training, stretch
Wednesday - Spinning
Thursday - 20 Minutes of cardio the 45 minutes of lower body strength training, stretch
Friday - Boot camp (hell day hahahahaha)
Saturday (Im off since I work early)
Sunday - 20 minutes of cardio, 45 minutes upper body strength training, stretch.
Wow, these are all great. I'm going to have to kick my game up to catch up with you...................:)
Hi all,

After a 30-pound weight loss using mostly BeachBody products like Turbo Jam, I decided to take it to the next level with P90X.

Basically, this program is 90 days broken into 3 phases of 3-weeks each and one recovery week. I've completed my first three weeks and so far, I love it! I really like the idea of "muscle confusion," which keeps your body guessing and helps make changes more quickly.

Phase one was as follows:
- Core Synergistics
- Plyometric Training
- Arms, shoulders, abs
- Yoga
-Legs, back, abs
-Kenpo Karate
-Rest and stretch

Next week is my "recovery week," which is still hard work, but no weight lifting.

Looking forward to getting to know everyone better.
