About Me:
I'm 40 yrs old and have been heavy all my life. I made lots of bad dieting choices before and my health has suffered for it. But I've learned a lot this past year on nutrition and exercise and so I'm starting afresh. I have to lose about 130 lbs now.
Website:
http://thequeensizecommentary.blogspot.com/
What are your goals?
I'd like to get down to 140 lbs. I weigh 273 now and I'm 5'7" and small framed. I also like the idea of muscles. I'd like to have definition but I'm not a member of a gym anymore (just moved) but eventually I will join one. I want to get this weight off first.
Favorite Music:
Messianic praise music, old school funk, dance
Favorite TV Shows:
Anything on Food Network (gasp!)
What is your current exercise routine?
I stretch, dance, exercise for about 40 minutes. Then I walk for about 40 minutes. (a little over a mile)
What diets have you tried?
Aydes
Some pills that made you lose weight in your sleep.
A pill that makes fat 'slid out of you'.
My own concoctions - all the above didn't work. I will no longer fall for those fads.
What things do you want to do before you die?
Have to think about this one.
What is your favorite book?
Bible

A Six Word Memoir - My Passions

I've been tagged by Lisa N at Iowa Avenue to write a Six Word Memoir. A memoir's supposed to be a little phrase that describes a bit about the way you live your life.

My memoir is entitled My Passions. That is, subjects that I'm most passionate about. Most of my passions fit under the heading of Christianity, so here goes....

Holding to God's… Continue

My Comments on Paul McKenna's "I Can Make You Thin"

I finally caught his show - two of them. I'm not an emotional eater so I won't comment on that show. But the other one - he lists four golden rules:

1. When you get hungry - eat.

2. Eat what you want.

3. Eat consciously.

4. When you're full, stop.

1) Obviously we all know what this means. He says to make sure we are actually physically hungry and that we're not eating because it's there. If you ignore your hunger… Continue

Ditch the Hubby, I'm Going to Exercise!

This isn't a rant so much as it is an observation.

My husband, Mark, is a truck driver and ever since he got a new route which would enable him to be home every day, we both thought it would be nice to get healthy TOGETHER. (his idea btw) That means eat the same foods and do the same (or nearly the same) types of workouts. Now, he's not overweight at all. He's just needs to tone his tummy a little because he says it really bothers him and he… Continue

I Eat Right and Exercise - Why Can't I Lose Weight?

I Eat Right and Exercise - Why Can't I Lose Weight? Lori Bicek - Dietitian - Personal Trainer - Exercise Physiologist

The other day during my boot camp class Mary complains, "I've been in this class 3 days a week for 3 weeks now and I have only lost one pound". Ann replies, "Well, I haven't lost any weight".

In our battle to lose weight and get fit many people claim that they are eating right, exercising and even lifting… Continue

Does Name Calling Bother You?

It used to bother me but now I find it amusing. I've been called every 'fat' name under the sun growing up.

For instance:

Bertha Butt Boogie

Good Year Hindenberg

Carol Fatalino (a variation of my last name)

and the standard "Fatso" and "Fatty".

And if that wasn't bad enough, I've also got really frizzy, course hair (when I let it grow out) and buck teeth! (and yes this is me before I chopped it)…

Carol, thank you for the nice comments about Iowa Avenue. We are all about the our members here, and yes, there's lots to do and see, and if you have any suggestions of additional information you'd like, just send me an email, and I'll see what we can do.

As far as the pedometer goes, some people wear it all day and others only when they exercise. It's totally up to you.

It's not about rules or cheating, but it's about a healthy lifestyle and doing what works for you......................:)
