It's Much Quieter in Iowa

When I first came upon Iowa Avenue, it was much busier than it is these days. That it has quieted down as much as it has is disappointing. It is a great site to hook up with people who also want to live a healthy lifestyle. Hopefully, there will be a resurgence at some point in time.

As we move into the new year, my plan is to get back onto my healthy eating regimen. I'm making progress as I choose to eat more vegetables and less processed food. One step at a time seems to work for…

One Day at a Time in 2009

Having had years of experience in starting the new year on the right foot, healthwise, I know that I must monitor my progress every day. If one day goes by that I have not kept an eye on what I eat, weigh, or how much I exercise, I am doomed to fail.

When I keep it simple with a small notebook or chart, I have the greatest success. So my healthy lifestyle resolution for this year is:

Monitor my healthy lifestyle progress every day, but keep it simple as I move forward… Continue

Giving the gift of myself to me - short version

Since that last post was pretty long, here is the short version.

My gift to myself is taking the time to read, write, and relax during otherwise busy days.

What about you?

Take care, everyone!

Giving the Gift of Myself (I've been tagged)

I was tagged by David! Thanks, David!

Right now, in my life, I probably do less for myself than ever. I am caregiver to my 86-year-old father, and I know how important it is as a caregiver to take care of myself first so I can better take care of my father. Well, that doesn't happen as often as it should.

But, here are the activities I do enjoy, and you will soon see why I joined this… Continue

Hey Edie,
just wanted to pop in and wish you a Happy New Year. What you're doing for your father is brilliant. I am a personal chef to a couple that are 87 so I know how important just being there is. My second job is creating recipes for a healthy lifestyle which I thought you might be interested in. Welcome to this great community!

Gavan, thanks for stopping by. How lucky the couple is to have a personal chef. I think my dad gets a little tired of the same or similar offerings he ends up with. I am definitely not a chef. Probably one of the reasons he never misses his Senior Center luncheons.
