I'm a 28 year old grad student who's been heavy too long. A lot has happened in the last couple of years and now I'm learning to live my life better. I'm trying to eat healthier and exercise more so that they become a natural part of my life and not "have to-s."
1. Drink plenty of water.
2. Lose 116 lbs. (a healthier BMI than where I am right now)
3. Incorporate more veggies and fruits into my meals.
4. Develop a good running routine and eventually run and finish a 5K.
5. Get plenty of sleep.
Favorite Music:
I listen to all kinds of stuff - country, r&b, hip hop, pop, tejano, rock, oldies, etc.
Favorite TV Shows:
I love watching reality tv - like America's Next Top Model
I like tv competition - So you think you can dance?, Dancing with the Stars, Pussy Cat Dolls, Top Chef
Random tv series - My Boys, House, and Bones
What is your current exercise routine?
Cardio: Treadmill, elliptical, and bike
Weights: all kinds of free weights and machines
I've been working out 3 days a week but I want to increase to 5-6 days, alternating cardio and weights.
What diets have you tried?
I'm not a fan of diets. I tried Slim-Fast briefly but that's about it.
Hi Elisa - I read the description of your PhD work on Ask the Dietitian's page and thought I'd chime in that I did my chemical engineering PhD dissertation on photocatalysis. The research wasn't as fundamental as yours but kind of in the same vane.
