Berries and Your Heart Health

In the battle against chronic disease, specifically heart disease, the antioxidant content of berries is a fantastic weapon.

Researchers in 2008 studied 72 volunteers over an eight week period. The volunteers were divided into a berry group and control group. The berry group was fed 100 grams of whole bilberries, 50 grams of lingonberry-rich nectar, and 100 grams of blackcurrants, strawberries, or raspberry-chokeberry juice every other day. The control group received non-berry “fruit… Continue

How Does Protein Affect Weight Loss?

Fat, protein, and carbohydrates are all essential to your overall health. When you are working to lose weight it’s important that you do not cut any one nutrient too low. Let’s focus on your protein intake.

Types of Protein

Protein is made up of 20 building blocks called amino acids. Eleven of these amino acids are nonessential and nine are essential. This means the body is unable to create nine of these amino acids on its own and must receive them from food… Continue

Wow, you live in Yellowstone? I've been there twice and would love to go again. It's a fantastic place. The last time I was there, my daughters and I stayed in a small town in Montana close to the park. The first night, we decided to have pizza for dinner and found a Mom and Pop pizza parlor. They offered sauerkraut on the pizza, and as we had never heard of it, but loved sauerkraut, we asked if we could add a couple of pieces to our order.

Talk about great. The next night, we went back and one half of one of our pizzas now featured sauerkraut. Knowing a good thing when we saw it, we went back for our last night there and by then, ordered one whole pizza with sauerkraut.

When we got home, we made it there, too. I had never seen sauerkraut offered before or sense, but it's the best pizza I've ever tasted.

Okay, now after that long winded store, Welcome to Iowa Avenue..................:)

Thank you!

I am guessing you stayed in Gardiner (or maybe West Yellowstone) and if so I am familiar with the pizza place. . . .didn't know they offered a sauerkraut pizza though. I will take your word for it that it was good:)

We have been in Yellowstone 2 years this summer. Do you remember all the "wildlife jams" when you were visiting. Well, they have started up full force this spring with the bears coming out of hibernation. For a local, the parking in the middle of the road gets old fast! Guess the beauty of the scenery all year should out way the tourist irritation. . . .I'll have to remind myself of that when I head to Cooke City tomorrow.
