About Me:: I have been on tons of diets. Now at age 52 I have type 2 diabetes and want to get healthy. I have lost before on my own but really need the support of other people. I recently made major changes in my life and it has been the best thing I have done in a long time. I like being single and living the life I choose for myself.

What are your goals?: To lose 40 lbs - goal weight of 145. To live life with my eyes wide open.

Favorite Music:: Country - Pop- lots of different kinds.

Favorite TV Shows:: The Biggest Loser, Without a Trace, Pushing Daisies, ER, Cold Case - Decorating Shows

What is your current exercise routine?: Gazelle - Leslie Sansone Walk DVD

What diets have you tried?: Atkins, Diabetic, Cabbage, Lo Cal, Low Fat

What things do you want to do before you die?: I want to have a nice little house for myself. I want to travel. I basically just want to live my life my way.

Positive changes in my life

It has been 8 months since I have posted on Iowa Avenue. My life is going well and I am happy to say that I am healthier than I have been in some time. I am eating better and exercising frequently. I have lost about 20 lbs since I 1st started with Iowa Avenue. I have only 20 lbs to go to get to my goal. I am positive I will reach that goal in a reasonable amount of time.

It has been a while

It is hard to believe it has been 2 months since I have posted. I started a new job a month ago and have been quite preoccupied with that. This is the other job I was offered when I 1st moved to Fort Wayne in February. The job is going well and I am sure it will be good for me. I am happy.

Please read - you will be glad you did !!!!

Tonight shortly before I was to leave work one of our drivers broke down. It was a simple fix but the driver would be held up for hours waiting on a service truck so I offered to go to a truck stop, get what he needed and take it to him. Sounds easy doesn't it? It should have been but I still don't know my way around Ft Wayne very well. I found the truck stop easily enough. Iowa Avenue - the place where my friends are

I so appreciate the comments to my last blog. I am so grateful for the friends I have made in this community. I do wish all of you lived near me. But since you don't, I will continue to enjoy our friendships here.

Who I Am - continued

The psychiatrist told me that I was one of the worst cases he had seen. I got out of the hospital and started outpatient treatment. I was in a group and for the 1st and only time in my life my shell began to crack. But, my insurance said I had reached my limit and so treatment last only a few more weeks.

My point is that I have lived for my children. I am not alive because of my will to live - but for my children. I have spent my life living for them. Now alone I am trying to figure out… Continue
