About Me:
I'm from Trinidad and Tobago, the southernmost islands of the Caribbean, just off of Venezuela. I have just started my career as a lawyer about a year now after many many years of working and studying part time. I have achieved much in my life but bec I have neglected my health in the process, I am now restricted in my enjoyment of the fruits of my labour. I live in a Caribbean island with year round sun and GORGEOUS beaches ....and have never worn a bikini! That, is a sin. lol. I'm 80lbs overweight and dont wanna be weighed down anymore.
What are your goals?
To find balance in my life. To be able to work as hard as I can and also to play as hard as I can. To learn what it means to be healthy and to learn about what a healthy lifestyle involves. By next year? I want to be at least 40lbs lighter and tonnes happier. I want to learn how to love myself and how to train myself. I want to be disciplined.
Favorite Music:
I like ABBA, BeeGees, contemporary alternative, anything sung by Josh Groban, Creed and Matchbox 20, Alanis Morrisette, the Killers. I also listen to bhajans (hindu devotional songs)
Favorite TV Shows:
Not much of a tv person.
What is your current exercise routine?
Havent developed one yet.
What diets have you tried?
None really. I've tried eating more raw foods and less refined and processed stuff but that takes a lot of planning and I havent been able to follow through. At least twice a year I vow to go to the gym regularly....and do, for about a month. lol.
What things do you want to do before you die?
Travel, hike up Maracas waterfalls, see Josh Groban live in concert, show off six pack abs at the beach! :)
What is your favorite book?
Oh geez. Just one? Thats tough. I love'Life of Pi'.

Dont I want it enough?



Thats what I've been asking myself.

I know what I want but I cant seem to stick with the chosen formula.

Why? Every single day is a mental battle. Eat this pastry, put it down, eat it, leave it. Its just another pound u dont need. The end result? Some days I leave it, I dont even notice its there. Other days, I eat it and reach for another.

Too much exercise? Is there such a thing?

I read about it. Did the research. Talk to the ppl.

The formula, is simple.

intake> output= fat

intake< output= weightloss

intake=output = maintenance



So I figure, all I had to do, was to limit my calories and increase my activity.

Healthier choices, more exercise.



Been doing weight training at the gym every day and walking every other evening.

Yesterday started well until...

I had bran cereal and skimmed milk for breakfast. Went to the gym. Good workout. Had grilled chicken and a salad for lunch. No soda, just water. Was full, no hunger pangs, nothing. Had dhal, rice and saltfish for dinner, not much, just enough to feel full. Lots of water throughtout the day. Sounds liek a good start.

I've just read through some of the blogs members have here and have been moved to tears. It feels so good to know that there are other ppl who face the same challenges. Juggling work and life can sometimes be a very trying experience. I've been there, done that, and to a certain extent, am doing it now. Balance is very hard to find.

Keep looking, and a solution will present itself. Sometimes it just takes longer than we would like.................:)

In regards to proper eating. You want to eat for energy before a work out such as: complex carb,(oatmeal with apple or banana) after work out eat to help muscle repair like a protien and complex carb (protein shake, egg whites with veggies). If you have any other questions let us know.
