About Me:
I never really know what to say when asked about me...

Since this is a website about healthy lifestyles I guess it is best to write about my health and weight loss issues, but I believe there is sooo much more about me than just that!!!

I am an attorney and a software developer; however, I am considering a career change in the next few years. My most favorite thing in the world is traveling, but I don't think anyone will pay me for the type of travel that I like to do, but I am working on the various possibilities.

Beyond traveling, I love watching movies and hiking. I am an avid reader and an amateur photographer. I have also discovered that I enjoy writing. I decided to use this blog platform to journal some of my experiences.
What are your goals?
I have a few... I want to learn to meditate. I want to improve my writing and photography skills. Get my eating habits under control.
Favorite Music:
Don't have a particular genre that I prefer over others... If it has a good beat and makes me want to move, I like it.
Favorite TV Shows:
I don't watch TV. I do love movies, though.
What is your current exercise routine?
I exercise 4-5 times per week. Each day includes some sort of cardio activity (hiking, eliptical, stair mill, treadclimber) and 2-3 days includes 30 minues of strength trainer with a personal trainer. I try very hard to get 5 miles a day in 5 times a week.
What diets have you tried?
Though I have read MANY diet books, I really have only practiced some form of South Beach - Atkins type diet.
But mostly I am off the wagon and eating anything that appeals to my cravings.
What things do you want to do before you die?
Visit all the continents on this planet and as many of the countries on those continents as possible.
Lose and keep off the last 40 lbs.
Find a career that I really love.
What is your favorite book?
No one favorite, but I have really enjoyed The Time Traveler's Wife and Eat Pray Love among many others

A Healthy Lifestyle is the BEST Aphrodisiac

I don’t know about you, but when I eat right and exercise regularly, I feel incredibly sexy. And it only takes about a week of eating right and exercise to start feeling the effects.

Even though my body has not changed much in one week’s time, my attitude sure has! I feel more confident; when I look in the mirror I like what I see a bit more; there is a glow that radiates from me that others can see.

Other people really respond to the… Continue

Whole Foods are the Best Appetite Suppressant – End of Week 2 on the Program

Well I am happy to report I have lost 2 lbs this past week. I am thrilled.

When starting this program, a few participants asking questions about appetite suppressants. They were concerned about hunger.

Turns out there were no need to be concerned. The diet plan focuses on eating whole foods, rather than processed ‘diet’ foods. If you eat whole foods, you have more energy without the hunger.

This really works considering the… Continue

Starting Week Two of the Program

Introductory week is over and Monday was the first day of practicing the program.

Here are some observations:

1.) Eating every 2-3 hours seems to really work on cutting the cravings. I have set my calendar to remind me to eat, and when it goes off, I think “Jeesh, it’s time to eat AGAIN!” I just have no time to develop the cravings.

2.) Getting back into my exercise regime has already increased my energy levels (I started the exercising last week). To the point I have a… Continue

This Rocks!!! Sautéd Veggies

My job keeps me hopping and I don’t always have time to make dinner when I get home. So every few days, when I do have time to cook, I will lightly sauté a big batch of veggies in a bit of olive oil. It is a great habit I have picked up over the past year.

Having the lightly cooked veggies on hand allows me to quickly prepare a nutritious meal without have to do a lot of chopping and prepping. I can turn out a meal that would… Continue

Day 2 and 3 of the Program: Healthy Habits

In day 2 and 3 of the program, I am learning about the habits that I should incorporate in my new healthy lifestyle. So far, I am very impressed.

As to exercise, the habit should be a minimum 5 hours a week, blending resistance exercises with intensity interval focused aerobics.

The eating habits are as follows:

1) Eat every 2-3 hours. Though this will be a difficult habit to develop, I believe it is a critical that I do. My biggest problem with food is… Continue

Wow, you do have many interests, and I'm anxious to read your thoughts about life, career, travel, fitness, and food. Travel itself equates to many different varieties of food.
