About Me:: Mid-life ;single mom ;runner . wknd triathlete. black lab owner. and then there's me. I like fitness, eating right, sunrises, a great short story.. and getting outta town for a getaway :) a lacto-ovo vegetarian since 1990--that's NO meat at all. I'm a little more enlightened and educated than your avg. girl Friday... but fun.

What are your goals?: Kona---a. qualify, b. get there and shut the proverbial gate baby.

Start my own biz dealing with fitness (in one way or another-- I'm still figuring this out)... so I can work for myself... and only me ! :) and for my family overall... while helping others here and abroad.

Favorite Music:: Anything playing on the following Sirius radio stations--> Faction, Punk, or Little Steven's Underground Garage.

Favorite TV Shows:: Rachel Ray; Jon & Kate + 8; Anything on Discovery Health; The Art of the Athlete on FitTv. Old 80's flicks on Lifetime Movie Network.

What is your current exercise routine?: Tri training, running for fun, trail runs. Weights + Resistance band training; some pilates.

What diets have you tried?: Wgt Watchers which was cool and it worked for me but I don't have time to chk in weekly with the office.
in a past ignorant life I did the horrible of taking diet pills (xenadrine with ephedrine). that was dumb.

What things do you want to do before you die?: Complete the IronMan, Kona in regulation. IM Coeur D'Alene-sub 12hrs; Preferrably within 12 hrs or less. Give seakayaking a whirl; Marriage lol; Camping + Hiking in Alaska; see New Zealand with my own two eyes.. and Austrailia. Have a long dinner & a bottle of wine in Tuscany with the one I love.

Well... I have been up to ... well.. nothing! I was training for an Ironman race up until mid- march when I realized my support system was eternally flawed...and there was nothing I could do about it. As a single parent of a very busy preschooler... support is/was essential. Thus I sent a withdrawal notice in for the race which will be in mid June. I hated to do it ... but... found- the original recipe for pumpkin muffins

Hey I found the magazine which has the original recipe. I'll post the orig version on here tonight.... it did refer to Red's Mill gluten free flour.. and also you can throw in apricots or white choc chips for extra flav. :)

Desiree Fickers Pumpkin Muffin Recipe! courtesy of a post by blogger swimbikerunguy

Here's the scoop:

They're supposed to be gluten free, but that sounds bad.

1 & 3/4 Cups Flour (I've used white and whole wheat - both work fine)

1 & 1/4 Cups Sugar (I can cut about 1/4 cup out if you use apple sauce or something else - molasses.. splenda works too)

1 TBSP Baking powder

1/4 TSP salt (I think it needs a little more)

Checking in with the latest... + 1500 cals a day isn't that bad!

So it's a typical Tuesday. Sitting here at work answering calls...drilling out sw quotes...etc. blah. Work continues to be a source of stress due to new customer database implementations, hiring, firings, and half of the staff out on vacation. Everyone is schmoozing reps that share their territories to save their own ass... and I'm so NOT in the mood for any of this. Laying Ground Work

Happy 4th of July!

Yesterday I registered for my first FULL marathon. That's 26.2 miles kids. We finally have a local race in Raleigh, NC again, after many years without a marathon...(2007 was the actual revival of the race) something about lack of corporate sponsors or something as to why it vanished.
