I dragon boat race on a competitive community team as well as a women's team.
In the midst of a complete career change from business to the healthcare industry. I hope to be able to share some of the information I will learn through my training to the community.
What are your goals?
Increase endurance level. Goal is to be able to do a 5K run outside in a race by the end of the year. (I'm asthmatic so running just burns! But I am getting closer to my goal!)
Be able to do pull ups by the end of the year (more than half way there!)
Eat more fruits and vegetables and cut down on meat consumption by exploring and creating recipes.
Increase flexibility in lower body.
Correct muscle imbalance.
Favorite Music:
Pretty much anything. These days, I listen to anything I can work out with.
Favorite TV Shows:
I don't watch TV much. But when I do it's usually House MD, Numbers, and CSI.
What is your current exercise routine?
I compete in dragon boat racing. During the season, I have practice twice a week for 1 hour and 45 minutes each practice. Each practice includes dry land training as well as on water training. I also go to the gym at least twice a week (if not 3 or 4 days) for 2 hours each session. I prefer strength training over cardio. This year, one of my goal is to increase my endurance level.
What diets have you tried?
I don't believe in dieting. I believe in eating healthy and eating in moderation. However, I do believe that one has to listen to their body. For my specific body type, I feel that I benefit more from a low carb diet.
