It's no mystery why Americans are getting fatter. We're expending less energy to work, play, travel and acquire food. And we're taking more calories in.
And how!
New York City's recent law requiring chain restaurants to post calorie counts on menus has revealed some intriguing -- and appalling -- information.… Continue
As a Life Coach, I help people get where they want to go and do what they’ve always dreamed of doing.
Over and over again I’ve seen people achieve tremendous goals and create enormous change—the kind of progress that tends to make other people say, “Oh, I could never do that!”
My clients leave the jobs they hate and create satisfying new career paths. They lose the weight they are tired of battling. They make significant emotional or… Continue

In a recent study, researchers forecast that by 2030, 86.3% of American adults will be overweight or obese.
By 2048, all American adults would become overweight or obese.
Total health-care costs attributable to obesity would rise to 860.7–956.9 billion US dollars by 2030, accounting for 16–18% of total US health-care costs.
By 2048, that number would swell to 3.8276 trillion US dollars.
According to Dr. Pietro Tonino, an orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine specialist at Loyola University Hospital, “celebrities look the way they do because they’ve followed their intense regimes for a long time. They also can afford ace trainers who make sure they don’t hurt themselves, vary their routines and keep them motivated”.
Another difference: “Most people that I know don’t have that… Continue

Every weekday at 11:00 A.M, Monday through Friday, three retired professionals used to meet at the same café in Manhattan. They passed their time complaining about the government, society, and the inefficiency of the post office. After they ran out of things to critique, they paid their bill, left a hefty tip, and went home to their wives, who had some complaints of their own. But thanks to the FBI, today was going to follow a different pattern.
Many people ask why one needs to take vitamins or minerals. And some people who do take supplements ask why you need dosages exceeding the recommended daily allowances? Among the reasons are depleted soil, low-nutrient crops, food processing, use of pesticides and herbicides, stress, special circumstances like pregnancy, and that we use nutrients for therapy, not just to avoid deficiency diseases.
Government scientists meet periodically to decide the levels of the recommended daily… Continue

Busy, busy boy nowadays especially since I'm working independently. Hence I didn't get the chance to re update my blog.

Fruit season has begun in an explosion of scents, colours and forms. I’ve encountered four fruits brand new to me this week and rediscovered another. The mangosteen tree is a beautiful triangular shaped tree with dark green shiny leaves, it reaches about 15 feet in height. The fruits are like a child’s drawing of ‘fruit’ – round and plump and purple with a pretty, leathery dark beige/purple cap. Opening the fruit reveals a soft intensely purple flesh which cushions three seeds enveloped in… Continue
Fabulous Mag, an online magazine featuring fashion, celebs, dating, and beauty, surveyed several thousand people--both women and men--to determine what their idea of the perfect body was.
The results were fascinating.
Apparently, women and men have very different ways of…
SEATTLE - Just blocks from the University of Washington, a line of people shuffle toward a food pantry, awaiting handouts such as milk and bread.
For years, the small University District pantry has offered help to the working poor and single parents in this neighborhood of campus rentals. Now rising food prices are… Continue

One of the questions I get asked most often by clients is how to improve posture. Many of us are troubled by back pains, and on top of that, we're reminded just how bad our posture is when we come across a picture of us showing the unflattering truth. Our Grammie's voice pops into our head saying "Stop slouching. Straighten up your back."
Grammie has a point. If you think about it, imagine how much better we view our selves and others who stand tall and walk proud. Not only does good… Continue
According to data collected from the annual Health Surveys for England between 1997 and 2006, rich old white people are more likely to participate in sporting activities than other demographic groups.
Even worse, the fitness participation gap between rich and poor, black and white, old and young appears to be growing wider.
So it seems that while more and more lily-white baby boomers are trying to get fit, the rest of the general… Continue
