Walking the Harbor
Yesterday, I packed my camera up and went for a walk at Marina Del Rey, one of the largest man-made small boat harbors in the U.S., containing 19 marinas with a capacity for 5,300 ships. I’ve passed by Marina before but never stopped. Although a bit cool outside my house, and even a little cooler at the water, I nonetheless I still went. Hey, I’m an East Coast girl at heart, so a bit of cool air is nothing.

A Cloudy Day in LA

Lately clouds have been present here and even some mild sprinkles.
But the sun has poked through long enough for me to get a few walks in. However, they haven’t been as long as I’d like. To top it off, I’ve been trying a new training technique--I’ve been walking up and down a very steep hill. It’s a bit monotonous but the results are not.
Walking up and down a hill qualifies is a HIIT…

Wordless Wednesday Walkers – Let’s go Flying
Over the last two days, I’ve race walked my new personal record for two days--19 miles total, walking 11.5 miles one day and 7.5 the next. I’ve reached a new milestone.
Even though I still have 3 months to train for my upcoming marathon, I want to increase my speed. Right now I’m averaging about 14 minutes per mile. I know I…

Litter Destroys Beauty
![]()
Growing up, I was taught not to litter, and that was a little while ago.
When my children were growing up, I also taught them not to litter.
However on my walk yesterday, I was appalled at the amount of litter here in Los Angeles and on our streets. Of course, I’ve always known that there was litter, but during yesterday’s walk, it just hit me harder than normal.…

Wordless Wednesday Walkers – 16+ miles in 2 days
Over the course of the last week, I’ve increased my walking (10+ miles yesterday and 6.1 miles today). I’m trying harder to get you more flavors of Los Angeles and to reveal a new part of the city each time I walk in many of our eclectic neighborhoods.
Here are a few of the pictures I’ve taken during those walks:…

Wordless Wednesday Walkers – Life is Amazing

I’m continually amazed at what nature can do, even against the odds.
Over time, mankind has always made the fatal error of underestimating the force of nature only to be rudely reminded—as with the horrific Hurricane Ike a couple of weeks ago.
Today, I’m featuring two pictures from my walk yesterday.…

Wordless Wednesday Walkers - My Longest Walk to Date
Yesterday, I completed my longest walk to date--6.4 miles. I’m very excited and proud that I’m setting my goals and reaching them.
Along the way, I saw a few unique sites for today’s WWW:

Wordless Wednesday Walkers
For today’s WWW I’d like to emphasize the green in our life.
If each one of us took the time to make our city a little bit better by conserving and preserving, the planet will be a better place.

Hey, it’s a self-portrait!!

As viewed from the sidewalk…

Wordless Wednesday Walkers

Los Angeles mixes many of our land uses with business, commercial, and residential developments. Even though these buildings appear to be far way, they are really within a spry walking distance.

As I walked by, the doors to the fire station were open, and I saw these two pair of boots. Immediately, I wondered how many fires had these boots seen? Had its wearers…

Wordless Wednesday Walkers
Sometimes I walk in an older section of Los Angeles, which has some beautiful trees. They are weather worn, strong trees with powerful roots. They have bent over time and have not snapped due to being inflexible. I like that. In fact, the roots have the strength to move the sidewalk. I have personal experience with these, as the other day, I almost fell due to the elevated sidewalk.
Here’s an example:…

Since I got my new camera, I just had to go to the beach today and both walk and, of course, snap some cool photos with my new lens.
In fact, I was walking on the beach when an Earthquake hit Southern California today.
I had no idea it occurred let alone the fact I didn’t feel it.
It wasn’t…

Scenes of San Diego
Yesterday, a friend of mine asked me to go with her to San Diego, which is about 2 hours south of Los Angeles.
Because we left early and got back rather late, I was unable to do my usual Tuesday walk, so today, instead of Wordless Wednesday Walkers, I’m presenting “Scenes of San Diego”

Mission Bay Park

An outside exercise gym…

I wanted to share with you one of my new “friends” at the gym.
He’s called the Butt Blaster. I use it everyday at the gym. I can feel it’s effects on my ass as soon as I get off the machine, and I feel it when I get up in the morning—that’s a good thing. No Pain No Gain.

As my workout durations, frequency and intensity, and stamina increases, I’ll…
