I don’t know about you, but when I eat right and exercise regularly, I feel incredibly sexy. And it only takes about a week of eating right and exercise to start feeling the effects.
Even though my body has not changed much in one week’s time, my attitude sure has! I feel more confident; when I look in the mirror I like what I see a bit more; there is a glow that radiates from me that others can see.
Other people really respond to the…

Well I am happy to report I have lost 2 lbs this past week. I am thrilled.
When starting this program, a few participants asking questions about appetite suppressants. They were concerned about hunger.
Turns out there were no need to be concerned. The diet plan focuses on eating whole foods, rather than processed ‘diet’ foods. If you eat whole foods, you have more energy without the hunger.
This really works considering the…

Introductory week is over and Monday was the first day of practicing the program.
Here are some observations:
1.) Eating every 2-3 hours seems to really work on cutting the cravings. I have set my calendar to remind me to eat, and when it goes off, I think “Jeesh, it’s time to eat AGAIN!” I just have no time to develop the cravings.
2.) Getting back into my exercise regime has already increased my energy levels (I started the exercising last week). To the point I have a…

My job keeps me hopping and I don’t always have time to make dinner when I get home. So every few days, when I do have time to cook, I will lightly sauté a big batch of veggies in a bit of olive oil. It is a great habit I have picked up over the past year.
Having the lightly cooked veggies on hand allows me to quickly prepare a nutritious meal without have to do a lot of chopping and prepping. I can turn out a meal that would…

In day 2 and 3 of the program, I am learning about the habits that I should incorporate in my new healthy lifestyle. So far, I am very impressed.
As to exercise, the habit should be a minimum 5 hours a week, blending resistance exercises with intensity interval focused aerobics.
The eating habits are as follows:
1)
Eat every 2-3 hours. Though this will be a difficult habit to develop, I believe it is a critical that I do. My biggest problem with food is…

Today is the first day of the new eating and exercise program that I am going to be following for 16 weeks. Except, it has been announced that it will actually be 17 weeks, rather than 16 weeks. The first week is an acclimation week and gives the participants time to do what they need to do to get ready, such as clean out the fridge and go grocery shopping.
I have decided to follow this program by just focusing on each task at hand on each day. I am not going to think about the…

If you have never seen the movie
Death at a Funeral, I highly recommend it. You must like British humor to appreciate it. Without giving the movie away, there is a line where one of the main characters states to the funeral attendees, "Life is complicated". The implication is that we all make decisions that may or may not be the best decision, either for us or for others. Consequences are not always easily ascertained. Intentions are often…

I was once told by a woman I chatted with on a plane that you know you are ready to have children when you start having that "been there, done that" feeling most of the time. I feel fortunate to have not reached that point yet. I am now 41 and don't think I will ever get there. But the woman's essential point was correct; kids do help you see the wonders of the world afresh.
Kids are not in the cards for me, but I do have a wonderful niece…

We have just settled down to sleep for our first night of our vacation.
This is my family's annual vacation together. My immediate family is my mother, my brother and his two children, a 12 year old daughter and a 7 year old son. My husband never joins us for these vacations. He is from New Zealand and spends every day of his precious vacation time in New Zealand as his father is rather old. I join him on one trip a year for 10 days. (If you have never been to New Zealand, I HIGHLY…

If you have not seen this yet, you must go take a look.
www.wherethehellismatt.com
Watch the Dancing 2008 video and sit back and enjoy for 4 minutes and 29 seconds and be awed.
Spend a bit more time reading Matt's journal of his travels. Watch his older videos to see how he got his start.
He is a truly neat guy!

I did not sleep well last night, so I did not get up early enough this morning to get my workout in. Maybe I have a good excuse. Maybe there is no excuse good enough.
I never sleep well before I have to go to court. As a transactional attorney, I don't spend time in the courtroom as part of my day job, but I have taken pro bono work as a
guardian ad litem (GAL) for two children in foster care. As a GAL, I am more than just an attorney for these kids; my job is to look after…

One objective I would like to accomplish with this blog is to share products, concepts, books, movies, etc... that I really like. I hope to hear from others what they like as well.
I am going to kick this off with Cardio Coach.
Cardio Coach is a series of podcasts created by Sean O'Malley to guide the listeners through intense interval training while using the cardio machines in the gym. There are 8 different podcasts, all available at a reasonable price at…

Can you force yourself to do something or give up something for one week? What about for two weeks? How about for 16 weeks? What number is the barrier between easy and hard? Many people do this during Lent and other religious fasting "holidays".
This only seems to be an issue for me when the time frame deals with food. I went to law school at night while working full time. That was a serious challenge of endurance for four years. I approached it with a determination deep inside me…
