The recognition that are able to reason, to make decisions that are in our best self-interests, are paramount to our own well-being.

We are able to realize the fruits of our labors, activities, intellect, and to use that for whatever we please.

This was the direct result of the embodiment that the framers and Founding Fathers of the U.S. Constitution warranted to the people:

The right to Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.

Yes, you got it Happiness!

Our Forefathers set in motion a prescient Aristotelian notion that a moral philosophy could provide the framework of a political system, to gave us the plurality of freedom, capitalism, and rule of law.

They afforded us, and still do, a unique opportunity in the history of the world, to be special, and to use our freedoms to break through the rigidity that any government, man, institution, or credo guises in the form of a religion, uses to hold us hostage.

They were on to something. In the absence of happiness is unhappiness, and the many feelings, emotions, decisions, ideologies, and not only how we perceive the world, but what the world really is.

Don't pay attention to the doomsayers, the naysayers, the peddlers of snake-oil despondency, all to frequent in our government, our elections, our media, our "associates."

Define your own set of values and what makes you ultimately happy.

Last decade, there were 100 studies on sadness for every one study on happiness.

Now a burgeoning "positive psychology" movement that emphasizes people's strengths and talents instead of their weaknesses is rapidly closing the gap, says University of Pennsylvania psychologist Martin E. P. Seligman, author of the new book, Authentic Happiness.

The work of Seligman and other experts in the field is in the early stages; but they are already starting to see why some people are happy while others are not:

"Materialism is toxic for happiness and even rich materialists aren't as happy as those who care less about getting and spending." says University of Illinois psychologist Ed Diener.

According to Seligman, everyone has a "set point" for happiness, just as they do for weight.

Pursue your passions, your dreams--your small, medium term, and long goals, Don't let others determine how "you" feel.

What makes you unhappy? Have you taken steps, or decided to make a list of steps to change this?

Remember that, in this highly complex and competitive world, we are all Masters of our Universe.
