Iowa Avenue

Walk

Members and non-members alike have highlighted or written about Iowa Avenue in their blogs. So in the spirit sharing a healthy lifestyle, I’d like to reciprocate and highlight others who share the same passion.

At AlmostFit, motivation was the topic of yesterday’s blog post, and Metroknow talked about his children being the main motivating factor for wanting to gain a healthy lifestyle. He talks about his fear of following in his family’s footsteps of contracting diabetes because of their family history. On Tuesday, he posted the first of a seven part series on dining out, using the principles of eating food in moderation.

I know I’m going to be following his advice with anticipation!

Crabby McSlacker over at Cranky Fitness has featured Iowa Avenue a couple of times in her blog. Her sense of humor is keen as is her wit. Her stated reason for blogging is “ Because most health and fitness advice is too damn cheerful.”

I’m not sure about that…………………..:), but since she and I both love chocolate, who can argue?

In the spirit of humor, have you noticed the little guy who’s at the top of this blog entry and also featured on the left toolbar on our homepage? As soon as I saw him, I fell in love. (Oh yeah, he doesn’t talk back.) He’s so cute and just keeps walking. He doesn’t give up, turn around, go too fast, or quit, but continues on a steady pace.

I found this widget at Kathy Calculates: Weight Loss. Patty posted some wise words there yesterday:

“Losers quit when they're tired. Winners quit when they've won.”

If I’ve missed your blog, don’t fret. As time goes by, we’ll be sharing other healthy lifestyle bloggers.

As I stated, before our methods may differ but our mission’s are the same, because,

After all, it’s about a healthy lifestyle!

The walker looks a bit depressed to me. Maybe my perception is skewed. I'll be checking out the blogs you mentioned. I have to agree with Crabby McSlacker - "most health and fitness advice is too damn cheerful.” Some days I can barely restrain myself from throwing something at the tv when I'm using my work-out tapes. Chirping should not be a requirement for exercise expertise. lol

Thanks for the plug Lisa! I really didn't expect that at all. Such a nice surprise this morning.

And thank you too for the Cranky Fitness pointer - I am definitely going to check that out. I also write humor/satire pieces elsewhere, so I was really excited to see someone combining those elements with improving health.

Thanks again - very glad to be part of this growing community.
