Yesterday I woke up with a raging headache. We've been having a heatwave here (like, triple digits! Hello! If we wanted that kind of weather, we'd have stayed in Los Angeles!). And the day before, I'd been quite active and busy with the kids. A lot of it was indoors, in a place with air conditioning (unlike our home), so I forgot to drink water. I know, I know! Even as I was making sure my kids drank enough, I forgot to get some for myself! Oy.
So I woke up with said headache, and immediately drank some water (along with my Advil). I was heading out to sub a class, so I filled my water bottle.
Which I then left on the kitchen counter.
No biggie, I figured I'd get a bottle at the gym.
Except, I'd never been to this particular gym before, and was so busy getting oriented, getting my paperwork done, making sure all the clients signed in, etc., that, well, I never did get a chance to get that bottle of water. And spent the next 75 minutes yapping away and teaching a pretty advanced class. So by the time class was over, my head was pounding, and I was dizzy and nauseous.
I drank from the water fountain on my way out and, luckily, there is a Whole Foods right nearby. I went immediately, without passing "Go" or collecting $200, and picked up a bottle of their electrolyte-enhanced water, which I proceeded to guzzle about half of before I finished shopping. But it was OK, since I then proceeded to purchase a large quantity of groceries, and, of course, I paid for the water. And the iced green tea, which I'd also started on before paying.*
So, yeah. For someone basically intelligent, I sometimes do some really dumb things. The lesson? Drink your water, folks! Learn from my mistakes!

*I don't normally consume food or beverages before paying for them, and this is in no way an endorsement of such practices. IT WAS AN EMERGENCY, PEOPLE!!!!!!

I hear ya sister! :-) we all have those "duh" moments and no judgement on consuming the products before you pay, I do it frequently with hungry kids at the grocery they are always wanting to tear into something before we get to the register so in choosing my battles....consuming before reaching the register is something I let slide :-) so drink up!

Who has a problem with that?!?!?! As long as you're paying for it, why would some one have a problem. These days, cups of beverages are sold with a straw at many grocery stores, so water would fit into the same category.

BTW, congratulations on another successful class........................:)

I hate being hot and for all intents and purposes cannot tolerate it. As well, if I am in a store and I'm purchasing something but I require and need it right then and there--I damn well will open it before paying for it. That being said, I'm glad you added your disclaimer.....)

Yeah, I guess it's more for things like bulk foods, or things sold by weight.
David, I'm so glad you weren't in this neck of the woods for the heat wave! It was AWFUL!!! (Triple digits, which is NOT usual for this area!)

Thanks for the great reminder, Alyssa. When I'm in my office, I drink water and herbal tea all day long - but when I'm home I tend to forget. I just found some non-BPA or phthalate plastic water bottles and bought two immediately! Hopefully that will get me drinking on my days off, too.

Good for you!!!!
I've been looking for those new bottles, but haven't had a chance to get to REI yet. Sometimes I leave a bottle of water right by the sink, as a not-so-subtle reminder, lol!
