Do you remember the old infamous television commercial, where the woman said:
“I’ve fallen and I can’t get up?”
Humor aside, falling is a metaphor for many life’s challenges: falling behind, falling prices, falling off the wagon, and even falling in love.
Did you fall off of your weight management plan?
In the pursuit of a Healthy Lifestyle we all make mistakes. We eat the wrong food or too much of a good one; sometimes we don’t exercise or skip a work-out.
Our member, Jody, posted about it with a picture. But, don’t punish yourself for or because of it. What does that accomplish except more punishment?
Rather simplistic isn’t it? Guess what, it is.
Although you may tell yourself that you will change, now is now and later may be too late.
So even though you made a mistake or didn’t live up to your “expectations” don’t wait until tomorrow to make things right--do it now.
Is there a better time?
Famous last words of people who are on a “diet:”
1. I’ll start tomorrow, so I’ll eat whatever I want today.
2. I messed up and ate too much, now my whole day is ruined.
3. I don’t feel like exercising today, because [insert the excuse]
4. I have had a bad day so I’ll eat unhealthy foods.
5. I ate a donut at work this morning, so the day’s shot.
Do any of these sound familiar? Have you said them to yourself?
My guess is the most people who have ever tried to lose weight said this at one time or the other. I know I have.
The secret is to not let yourself be defeated.
You have to pick yourself up, start again, and keep going toward your weight-loss goal. Don’t sabotage yourself by continuing destructive behavior the rest of the day.
If you fall, don’t just get up, go at it again.
Did you know that if you lose 2lbs this week, but fall off the wagon next week, you’ll be right back where you started and it will take another week to catch up to where you were from the start? In this scenario you just lost two weeks of time, plus an extra 4lbs that would have put you closer to your goal.
Don’t let this happen, because
After all, it’s about a healthy lifestyle!
