[Ed Note] Fox News picked up this blog post today.
If you have, then you’ve seen what a great resource it is for all things healthy. Written entirely by bloggers, it is educational, fact filled, at times funny, and its vast amount of healthy living information moves with incredible speed.
If you haven’t visited it yet, the Healthy Lifestyle Bloggers (HLB) is a group of people committed to being a strong force for helping others obtain and maintain a healthy lifestyle. We are information, stories, truths, and just plain common sense. Through our blogs, we strive to help people and, at the same time, help ourselves. After you read this post and of course, comment, I urge you to take a look.
According to Scott Karp over at Publishing 2.0, “The most successful media companies will be those that learn to how build networks and harness network effects. This requires a mindset that completely contradicts traditional media business practices. Remember, Google doesn’t own the web. It doesn’t control the web. Google harnesses the power of the web by analyzing how websites link to each other.”
The Healthy Lifestyle Bloggers is one such network.
When HLB was just launched a short while ago, I had no idea it would have the current membership number of 134--and it continues to grow each day.
I enjoy reading and learning from all of the HLB network members blogs.
As Diana said, So Many Health Blogs, So Little Time . . .
Did you know HLB has a widget?
Why do I mention it?
Because having the widget on your site, translates into other members getting hits, which means that your blog gets more traffic via more hits.
How many hits?
In the last week alone, the widget generated 689 hits, and these hits are being generated by only five blogs that are currently hosting it.
Here, take a look:
These hits are only representative of last week. Each hit represents a person visiting a hosting blog, seeing the widget, scrolling through the list of titles, and then finding one they like and hitting it. It’s that easy.
What would happen if more HLB member blogs had the widget?
Or hosted the RSS feed, like I have here on the left toolbar?
Currently HLB has 134 members, but how many will there be in a month, 3 months, 6 months, or a year?
Invite your fellow bloggers to join or your readers, friends, relatives, and colleagues to read it.
And the best part of it is that your readers and the media get to pick up your and other network participants stories and use it to lead more healthy lifestyles.
So doing well and doing good are alive and growing around the word.
Alone we are but one voice, together, we are a force to be reckoned with, as IA member Tom Rooney wrote in his blog post:
“Once I started to check out the sites in this network I’m becoming addicted to the different ways that information is presented. There are mothers that write about how to feed their families a wonderful meal without getting caught up in fast food. A few working families that give the rundown on exercise workouts. Did I mention recipes? You can find literally hundreds by checking this network. How about support for your plan to lose weight? Yep, you’ll find sites for this too.”
After all, it’s about a healthy lifestyle!
