Iowa Avenue

This week I’ve been feeling a bit under the weather, and didn’t work out.

Although I didn’t have the all out “in the bed” full-fledged flu, it sure felt like it. I had no energy, no concentration, a slight temperature, stuffiness, and felt generally—terrible!

Now I’m feeling much better so it’s time to get back into my regular routine.

What will I do?

50 minute power walks and 20 minutes at the gym.

Because of the good advice I received from some Iowa Avenue members, I’ll be much more focused on my gym routine.

I plan on increasing my base weight on all of the machines I use.

Walk on the Beach

I’m going to celebrate my recovery by going for a walk on the beach.

Although it’s so close, I haven’t been there in a while so I’m looking forward to my walk and taking some pictures for this week Wordless Wednesday Walkers.

Push-up Challenge

I’ll be returning to the Push-up Challenge. Because I wasn’t feeling well I plan on repeating Week 3 until I feel back to normal. It doesn’t make sense to move to the next week when you’re still struggling with the previous one.

Squats and Lunges

In my pursuit of a Tight Ass, I’ll be adding lunges and squats back into my home routine. My goal is to do 50 daily, which are in addition to my regular workouts-- 25 in the morning and 25 in the late afternoon. I’m going to do these 4 days per week.

Because I’m getting a great ass workout at the gym, I don’t need to do them every day.

What do you do when you’re not feeling well? Do you also stop working out? Do you continue?

It’s amazing how much I missed my walks.

I’m looking forward to getting my blood pumping and working up a good sweat again, because

After all, it’s about a healthy lifestyle!

Walking on the beach sounds totally delightful - especially if done early or late when the sun is kinder. Hope you feel all better soon.

No worries, it feels nice to get back in the swing of things. Sometimes it helps to take time off, for example, I was off from the gym for about ten days. My joints and muscles recovered, (my experience is different- advance training and I wasn't ill) I felt great upon returning and I even got stronger!

Anyhow, my girlfriend has been sick, and attending to her is absorbing most of my attention and time; which is completely okay because she's worth it. I make room in my life for the people I deeply care for; life happens, often unexpected events, but it's about having flexibility- a bend but don't break approach!

I consider this perspective toward life (health, fitness, so on) to an essential part of what it takes to reach ones goals. And like you already said, "it's about a healthy lifestyle!" Continued success!

It's great that you get right back into your routine.

I totally agree with you Barbara! Fage is delicious! I use it for curries, dressings, or by itself. Greek yogurt is much better than regular :)

SPlenda and Equal and artificial sweeteners are a big NO in my world. I know two holistic nutritional biochemists and both tell me "no way." Raw honey and agave seem to be okay to use in moderation.

Nasty taste? Wow..have you tried Fage? I try to avoid ALL dairy, but every now and then allow myself a dollop of Greek Fage yogurt. I love it. It tastes like rich creamy sour cream.
