Iowa Avenue

I took a slightly different walking route today.

How did I plan my directions? I go to Gmap-Pedometer, plug in my possible directions and calculate the mileage.

Then, based on the mileage, I tweak the route to fit my work-out routine. I try to walk at last 4 miles, but it varies from 3.5 to 4.2.

Because I’m in the city, I have unlimited options which definitely makes for a more interesting exercise every time.

Here’s this route in pictures:

Only about 6 months old, this house has both an unusual design plus solar panels. Green is cool.

I’m amazed at the versatility of nature. This tree root is following the path of the blacktop surrounding it.

This is the same tree from a wider angle.

Good thing I’m walking, because if you read the sign above, you’ll see that every 15 minutes of parking will cost you $1.90, for a very quick maximum amount of $13.30. What’s interesting is that there’s no shortage of street parking around.

Did you go for a walk today? If so, did you take pictures for today’s Wordless Wednesday Walkers?

I look forward to seeing them, because

After all, it’s about a healthy lifestyle!

Great photos Lisa... as usual! Isn't nice to walk thru streets with big tree shades sometimes? ... as long as you don't fall with the roots :=)

Although solar panels are quite expensive, it is good that some people are concerned about the environment.

I will post some pictures from my walking later.

See you then...

I'm so happy the last heat wave is over! I can breathe now :=) It was foggy in the morning. It was almost Noon and could see the fog on top of Santa Cruz Mountains far away. That makes our weather fresh... I love it!

I took another route today. Wherever I go, only a few people walk where I live. So per Lisa's idea, I take my camera that is my only companion. Only a few people take buses... the bus stops are usually empty.

This particular stop paid my attention with all kind of trees growing together such pine, olive, and palm among other ones. I'm sure the people living in that house enjoy the shade of them in summertime... how lucky!

And finally there was somone waiting for the bus... it was an old man. He probably can't drive anymore like everybody does.

When I finished walking, I read my pedometer: I walked 2.5 today.

It's surprising how quick a walk is when you're taking pictures. I love it.

Your pictures are great. It's common here and especially in Santa Monica for older people to take the bus. Many of them don't drive anymore, and the Senior rate for the bus is only $.25.

Thanks Lisa! You are right. I love your idea of taking pictures while walking so much... and feel much more motivated since started doing that.

I can see the map for the pedometer site but none of the functions work. I got an error message after trying them. Please don't worry about it. I just bought a personal pedometer anyway.

Here in the Bay Area the Senior bus rate is $0.75... everything seems to be more expensive up north :=(
