Iowa Avenue

On September 11, 2001, I was working at a school in Rockville, MD.

I happened to be in the office when the news and images came across the television screen that an airplane had crashed into the World Trade Center.

I watched in shock and horror as yet another plane hit the other tower. Not long after, the Pentagon was on fire.

Suddenly, Washington DC was in a panic:

Schools closed, traffic jams ensued, and parents were called to pick up their children, but most of the cell phones were down, inundated, and overwhelmed. After many hours, most of us were at home watching the news unfold.

Schools were closed the next day for a Day of Mourning and Respect for the victims and their families.

So for today and always,

Never, never forget.

Diana,
Unfortunately, many people have divorced themselves from reason, and the ability to gauge right from wrong, and the morality of us being a free nation and those who would wish to take it away from us under both the false pretense of their beliefs and brute force.
