What's for Dinner?

I look at the Healthy Lifestyle Bloggers several times a day--scanning headlines, clicking links, and looking for inspiration.

Wednesday, I found My Photo Food Journal at the fight for fitness.

As the title suggests, instead of only keeping a food journal, also having a photo food journal is a great way of eating healthy, and helps you not only to talk about the food you ate, but take pictures of it also.

Food journaling, or also known as food blogging, has been proven to double your chances of losing weight compared to not keeping a journal.

According to a recent study, conducted at the University of Wisconsin at Madison, 43 people photographed their food for one week.

What did they discover?

  • The photo diary appeared to be more effective at encouraging people to change their eating habits toward more healthy alternatives
  • Photos were a powerful reminder of snacking binges
  • Photos help people think and be more conscientious of what they eat
  • The instantaneous of pictures proved to be more potent than food diaries, which are often recorded hours later
  • Photos were especially helpful in visualizing portion sizes

Could you take pictures of all the food you ate for one week?

I’m not sure I’m ready for that yet, but I am ready to take some pictures of my meals, which is why, a few days ago, I created the group, What's for Dinner?.

If you don’t want to create a new blog, or even an extension of your current one, this is a great place to post your pictures.

Susana and Summer have already posted some photos of meals, along with some great cooking ideas.

Are you interested in increasing your weight loss accountability by posting pictures of what you eat?

Online accountability is a powerful weapon in anyone’s weight loss program, because

After all, it’s about a healthy lifestyle!
