Wordless Wednesday Walkers – 16+ miles in 2 days

Over the course of the last week, I’ve increased my walking (10+ miles yesterday and 6.1 miles today). I’m trying harder to get you more flavors of Los Angeles and to reveal a new part of the city each time I walk in many of our eclectic neighborhoods.

Here are a few of the pictures I’ve taken during those walks:

You don't see a horse on the LA streets too often

A horse walking on the sidewalk isn’t something you normally see on the streets of LA, but this street did lead to a ranch, so maybe his owner decided he needed a breath of fresh air.

Oh, a walking tunnel.

One way to cool off during a hot walk is to walk through a shaded tunnel. It feels great, for a few seconds, until you reach the heat again.

Please don't steal the Roses!

What does it say about us that this owner feels the need to post a sign about stealing roses?

Join us for an unforgettable experience!

Why don’t you join Iowa Avenue’s Wordless Wednesday Walkers? It may not be an “unforgettable experience,” but it’s definitely a great way to share your neighborhoods and get a little exercise at the same time.

Although we aren’t too wordless, we are walkers who enjoy walking and snapping cool pictures that we can share, because

It’s about a healthy lifestyle!

Love the tunnel. LOL, my daughter would have picked a rose.

Nice pictures Lisa! As usual, you find interesting things in your walk...

I went to a park today. It is just about two blocks from home. It is small but enough for me to walk around and see people enjoying nature.

The park is on the other side of the expressway so I had to cross the overpass:

The park has a sign about the total feet it covers. So this is a good information.

I saw a dog that wasn't on leash... Did the owner leave the dog?

Well... finally a car stopped to pick the dog up! I heard she was looking for the dog like crazy???

There was a car with a cactus on top along with other things. It was probably a homeless...

The park has this for exercise:

The park looks small but nice from far away.

And finally found two cute dogs with their owners… on leash!!!

I walked about 1.5 mile that was enough for today. I walked yesterday -but don't have interesting pictures- and will go back tomorrow for another short one.

I am moving in two weeks so I need to get my packing ready.

Great pictures, Susana. During an warm winter stretch, I took my kids for a hike in a local park. They were very small then, with my second daughter only about 3 years old. My kids were a little ahead of me on the trail, but still within my vision.

Suddenly, my second daughter came running, screaming back to me. Close behind her was a large dog, bounding along, almost chasing her. My daughter was scared to death. I quickly grabbed her and hugged her to my chest trying to comfort her. Slowly coming along were the owners of the dog, who had no idea why my daughter was so upset. I told them what happened, and asked them to obey the law and keep their dog on a leash. They said they were sorry, but not very ernestly.

Why don't some dog people realize that not everyone is a dog person, and that some kids who aren't too familiar with dogs will become freightened by them? This experience was very disturbing.

Thank you Lisa. I totally agree with you. Dogs shouldn't be walking without leash! Some owners don't think about bothering others. Also, the dog could run away, cross the street, and get killed. This one was so lucky that the park is on a dead end. I couldn't believe the owner left the dog alone in the park. Then, I heard she was looking like crazy for the dog...

I really enjoy walking through Santa Clara... the green landscape is fantastic! I will move to San Jose in two weeks. The place is close to another car dealer's zone. But there is a park nearby that I need to explore.

I hope the park in San Jose has the same exercise equipment. This park looks great for walking and getting a good workout at the same time.
