Iowa Avenue

Another Monday - usually I am starting a new diet each Monday - most of the time it is a pretty drastic one. By Monday evening I have failed and am emotionally beating myself up. I am not planning on starting a diet this Monday. Instead, I am going to do my readings, exercise, and try to eat healthy. Actually, I think I will declare this Monday a diet free day - or better yet my undiet day. We shall see how the day goes.

Instead of thinking in terms of a "diet," or "dieting" put your life squarely into short, medium, and long term goals that you want to achieve. I know it sounds kinda corny, but it really works. I've had to overcome quite a few obstacles in my life--major injury and illness--and I have found that with the help of others, having a clear mental picture of what "I really want," and perhaps some spirituality, good luck will come. Set some goals for yourself, and try to achieve them. Nothing succeeds like success, and nothing can get you down, like being down.

I know where you're coming from with respect to the every Monday diet, but over time, I've discovered that it's not about making drastic changes. Instead, it's about making one change at a time, and from the sound of your Undiet day, you're making the same discovery.
