In an article from the New York Times dated January 18, 1908, Pasteur’s successor at the Pasteur Institute, Elie Metchmikoff, wrote what he believed to be the secrets to long life.
I’m not going to go through the entire news article, but when you have time, it’s a very interesting read.
From the article:

In short, Metchmikoff’s recommendations are:
1. Be moderate in your food and drink
2. The air should be pure both inside and out
3. Daily exercise regardless of the weather
4. Go to bed early and wake early
5. Don’t sleep more than 6-7 hours
6. Take a daily bath, rubbing your skin well, using either hot or cold water
7. Have regular work with mental occupation
8. Be tranquil and full of hope
9. Passion must be controlled and nervous sensations of grief avoided
10. Preserve health
11. Avoid alcohol and other stimulants as well as narcotics and soothing drugs
What’s not surprising to me is that this list is still current today. It’s amazing that after all these years; we’re still talking about the same things. And most of us are still trying to achieve better health, so stay tuned because
After all, it’s about a healthy lifestyle!
