Yesterday, while I was surfing the Internet, I read two excellent blogs that I want to share. At Scale Junkie, her aim was for people—especially women—to focus on their positive attributes, by answering a series of questions provided by another blogger, Krissie at questions for dessert.

Krissie’s original post challenged reader’s to answer questions so they can have a “Kicking Ass” attitude instead of feeling sorry for ourselves.
In my effort to further a “Kicking Ass” attitude, I decided to take up her challenge.
I urge everybody to also respond to this campaign, by sharing your answers in your Iowa Avenue blog………:)
The "I LOVE ME" List

1. What do you absolutely love about your body? I love my hands. Although sometimes, they’re a little dry, and the nails are a little cracked, they have held four beautiful daughters from birth; they have helped me work everyday of my life; and now, they are typing this response on a keyboard that will help bring my dreams to fruition.
2. When did you surprise yourself with your physical strength?
The day the Gulf War started, I was scheduled to fly back from my vacation in India. My flight was cancelled. Due to the war, flights crossing the Gulf were rerouted, and then rerouted again. I had to literally hold my youngest daughter, who was 4 months old at the time, and take care of my other 3 daughters, all under the age of 7, for this incredibly difficult trip home. The entire flight took 41 hours. When I landed, I was totally exhausted, but was very happy to be home and realized that anything is possible during the most daunting of times.

3. When were you braver than you ever thought you could be?
I wanted to complete a five week “See America” trip; along with my four daughters. I drove through 24 states, put 11,000 miles on my mini-van (an average of 350 miles per day), and spent time in at least 10 National Parks, plus several state parks. The whole time we had 5 people in one car, staying in one room in each motel, eating together, and literally doing everything together--hiking, climbing mountains, doing laundry, waking and sleeping. It’s a trip I will never forget, and I don’t think they will either, because of our shared experiences of seeing a lot of our country and spending time together. I did it alone. Although I was apprehensive, I am proud of what we did and accomplished.
4. When did your self-control blow you away?
Everytime, I'm at the grocery store and see an obese mother with an obese child who is eating a lollipop, I just want to rip the lollipop right out of the child's hands and have a long talk (and that's putting it mildly) with the mother, but so far, I haven't done it.
5. What is your proudest moment ever?
That’s a tough question to answer, because I have too many to recount here, and look forward to many more in the future.
6. When was the last time you felt absolutely beautiful?
I feel absolutely beautiful everyday, because beauty comes from within. I accepted that I was never going to be absolutely “gorgeous” on the outside. But as they the old saying goes “Beauty is as Beauty Does.”
7. Why do you deserve to meet your Goals?
I think everybody should have the inalienable right to follow their dreams of life liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. When I make a commitment, I stick with it, and pursue my goals, because I am a hardworking woman who marches to her own tune and am passionate in my pursuits. I deal with people honestly, try to help whenever I can, and support my friends through thick and thin. When I make a promise, I do everything in my own power to carry it out.
I live by the Golden Rule.
As women, we have an ingrained tendency to try and be “perfect” and to feel ashamed about quite a few things that are not realistic. We internalize perfection when that is nothing more than an illusion.
By answering these questions, I hope that you’ll accept yourself for who you are, and to always try your best--that’s what matters most.
I look forward to reading all of your answers, because
After all, it’s about a healthy lifestyle!
