Last week I started using a training journal and this week I am already starting to see the rewards. My training journal is really basic. I bought a spiral notebook for a buck but I'm sure you can buy a fancy one or make one using a spread sheet. In it I put down the days exercises, poundage and the number of reps I did. The next workout you do you can use last weeks information as a tool for this week. First it provides tons of motivation. I'll take a look at how many reps I did a particualr set last week and try and one up myself. Sometimes I do one more and sometimes I don't. The point is using the Training Journal constantly motivates you to break through last weeks barrier. Another great benefit is it makes your workout more efficient. I don't have to guess how much weight I used last week for a particular exercise because I have it all written down. I move much faster in the gym because of it. If your not using a training journal give it a shot!
