Calling All Sports Fans - Who Will Win Super Bowl XLV?

Woo Hoo! Sports fans unite! Super Bowl XLV is coming up this weekend and I am excited! A warning to anyone reading this post: all I'm going to talk about is football, so if you hate football you might as well move on.

Go Packers!

Super Bowl XLV features the Green Bay Packers vs. the Pittsburgh Steelers and I'm rooting for the Packers. Why? Because I am a New England Patriots fan and I hate the Steelers, that's why.

Granted, I was rooting for the Steelers in the AFC Championship game, because I hate the Jets more than I hate the Steelers. In fact, the Jets have recently surpassed the Miami Dolphins as my most hated team in the NFL; the first time in history that I've hated a team more than the Dophins. But I digress...
 

Why the Patriots Deserve to Play in the Super Bowl

The Patriots smoked the Steelers during the regular season, so it only fits that the winner of the Super Bowl should also smoke the Steelers. Of course the Patriots beat the Packers in regular season play, but only by 3 points, and the Pack's star quarterback Aaron Rodgers was concussed for that game. Quite frankly, the Packers probably should have won, and probably would have if the coaches and Matt Flynn didn't blow the game in the final two minutes.

Anyway, here is my logic: if the Steelers beat the Packers, and the Patriots crushed the Steelers but just barely beat the Packers, then it tells me that the Packers are the better team. Furthermore if the Steelers do win the Super Bowl then it seems to me that the Patriots might actually have been a better team than both the Steelers and the Packers, and that the Patriots should indeed be playing in, and probably should win Super Bowl XLV.

New England Patriots = New York Yankees

If only Rex Ryan had focused on beating any other team than the Patriots all season, if only he had been a little less prepared, then there is no doubt in my mind that the Patriots would be the proud owner of the 2010 Lombardi Trophy. Most of you will disagree with me, I'm sure.

Thanks in no small part to spygate, the grim ending to the 2007 season, and to jealousy over their previous 3 NFL titles, the New England Patriots are the New York Yankees of NFL football. Everyone loves to hate the Patriots, and most people root for their opponent on any given Sunday. Fine by me, but I stand by my logic.
