Would you eat a Quarter Pounder if it didn't say McDonald's on it?

Apparently the answer is yes.

In Japan, McDonalds is experimenting with a new technique in marketing: "No-branding". Essentially they are removing the ubiquitous Golden Arches and scary clown face brand to see if people will be more or less inclined to eat at "Quarter Pounder shops" than at a traditional McDonalds.

What has been the reaction so far? This article points out that folks are lined up out the door - at this point. Read more here: McDonalds Japan Goes No-Brand with Quarter Pounder Shops

What do you think? Do you deserve a break today? :)

Oh, let me be the first to say NO!!! I don't eat meat or wouldn't eat that even if it is free.It is so sad Japan is changing for western fast food...

No offenses please... it is just my healthy lifestyle!

Interesting to say the least. If anything, I think that the buzz of having a generic type of fast
food shop, that's called Quarter Pounder definitely is connotative of the McDonald's brand. I'll bet
dollars to donuts everybody knows it's one anyway.

But this is nothing new--in La Jolla, on tony Prospect Street, they've had a McDonald's
cafe for a few decades.

So I don't think it's going to stop people from eating this kind of food. To the contrary.

I wouldn't eat a quarter pounder if it said "free money inside" on it...but that's just me. Fun, interesting post, thanks.

Well, I do eat meat and don't mind eating a burger every now and again...mine are few and far between, homemade with more veggies than meat in my burger. We're not big on any fast food restaurant, it's all the same "who knows what's in the meat" type food so we avoid it all together. David, I agree, I think with a name like quater pounder people probably know it's a McD's.
