Do you live in one of the “Thin” States?

According to the CDC, Mississippi has the highest percentage of obese adults and Colorado has the lowest percentage.

The CDC reports that six in 10 U.S. adults are overweight or obese; of which nearly a quarter are clinically obese.

These statistics are based on more than 333,000 adults aged 18 and older who reported their height and weight in a 2005 survey. The percentage of obese adults ranged from 17.4% to 30.3% among these states.

Rather than focus on the 13 overweight states, I wanted to list the top 13 thinnest states:

1. Colorado: 17.4%

2. Hawaii: 19.1%

3. Connecticut: 19.3%

4. Vermont: 19.8%

5. Massachusetts: 20.1%

6. Rhode Island: 20.5%

7. Montana: 20.6%

8. Nevada: 20.7%

9. Utah: 20.8%

10. Arizona: 20.9%

11. Washington, D.C.: 21.1%

12. New Mexico: 21.2%

13. New Jersey: 21.5%

There’s a popular saying that there are lies, damn lies, and statistics. Whatever state you live in—or you live outside the States—remember that you don’t have to be another “statistic” but a healthy, happy and vibrant person.

You can live the life you want with a little bit of determination, planning, and assistance.

Iowa Avenue is your home for sharing, motivation, and support, so let’s hear about your “state of the state.”

Because, after all

It’s about a healthy lifestyle!

'Fraid not... I started life in Texas... then lived in CA, then ND, now OR.

That's one scary chart there! I may be a statistic at the moment, but my body fat is dropping, bit by bit.

I started out in Colorado. I think I know why they are the thinnest. They have some of the best scenery in the world. All that nature cries out to be hiked and explored. I think if I was still living there, I would be thinner. I miss Colorado. Sigh....

Idaho is not one of the thinnest states. I think we need a fat layer to insulate us against the cold. lol
