About Me:
I'm a stay-at-home mom of two kids who both have autism. I used to be an actress, and am now training to be a Pilates instructor. I love chick-lit and romance novels, and being outside.
What are your goals?
To reduce stress, learn to love and appreciate my body, and be a good role model for my kids.
Favorite Music:
U2, Keith Urban, showtunes (yes, showtunes!), Black-Eyed Peas, The Beatles, Ray Charles, Billie Holiday, Jazz and Swing, 80's.
Favorite TV Shows:
Dr. Who, Torchwood, CSI (the original), 30 Rock, The Office. Will admit to watching American Idol and The Biggest Loser only under extreme duress.
What is your current exercise routine?
Pilates 2-4 times/week, cardio 4-6 times/ week, strength training 2-3 times/week, yoga. Riding my bike when I can, hiking with the family, chasing my kids up and down 3 flights of stairs.
What diets have you tried?
Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, South Beach, Sonoma, e-Diets, Bob Green. Also, Bulimia and Anorexia, and the Anxiety Diet (having panic attacks and not being able to eat. Effective, but not at all recommended.).
What things do you want to do before you die?
See my kids grow up. Walk/run or bike a race for charity (like a century ride), write a novel (or two, or more), take my family traveling around the world, see a cure for autism.
What is your favorite book?

OK, It's been A Long time...AGAIN!!!!!!

I can't believe it's almost the end of June! The kids have been on vacation this week, of course, although my daughter starts summer school tomorrow. I also taught 6 hours of Pilates, rode my bike to work in 100 degree heat (oops!) and worked out with my kids, husband, and the dog. I'm tired, lol! I now have 3 pilates classes, and am enjoying them a lot! One is at Equinox, and two are at the Jewish Community Center. I subbed a couple at the JCC, and one at EA Sports, which makes video games. It… Continue

Wow! It's been a Long time Since I Posted!

Sorry about that! Things have been a little nutso here. I got another class (Tuesdays at 8 pm, mat pilates). It's also IEP season. An IEP is an Individualized education Plan, which is made every year for kids with special needs. My husband and I meet with our kids' teachers, therapists, administrators, and basically anyone who comes into contact with them. We go over their progress, then make a plan for the upcoming school year. We usually end up having a lot of addendum IEPs throughout the year… Continue

File Under "Duh"!

Yesterday I woke up with a raging headache. We've been having a heatwave here (like, triple digits! Hello! If we wanted that kind of weather, we'd have stayed in Los Angeles!). And the day before, I'd been quite active and busy with the kids. A lot of it was indoors, in a place with air conditioning (unlike our home), so I forgot to drink water. I know, I know! Even as I was making sure my kids drank enough, I forgot to get some for myself! Oy. So I woke up with said headache, and immediately dr… Continue

Is All This Blood Sending The Wrong Message?

So, I taught my second official class today. I was very excited, because the class was full, and one of my buddies from our Tuesday night class was dropping in. So, as I'm setting up, she asks me "Did you hurt yourself?" and points to the back of my shoulder which, unbeknownst to me, is bleeding. Profusely. I got them settled and started the warmup while I cleaned the cut and put a bandage on it. But it bled through the bandage. So, a few minutes later, I put my cute little workout jacket on. An… Continue

My Butt Has Been Thoroughly Kicked.

By P90X Back and Biceps. Was I lifting huge amounts of weight, you ask? NO! I used 8 and 10 pounds! SHEESH! I'm such a wuss, lol! But I started teaching my class last Friday, and I've got a great group o' gals! I rode my bike to and from the gym, and it was so much fun! I think I'll keep doing that as long as the weather's good. But I think I need some padded shorts. The padded liners just aren't cutting it! Is that TMI?
